January 2022 - Luge campout

For the January campout, Troop 46 went luging! The Troop traveled to Gerber Scout Reservation near Owasippe Scout Reservation near Muskegon, Michigan and stayed at the Earle Johnson Lodge.

The Wolf patrol left some things outside out too long, now they are making breakfast with frozen batter.

The Panther and beaver patrols cooked their breakfast also.

On Saturday, some of the Scouts wanted to test out a few sleds before lunch.

The hill they used to sled down was steep. Coming back up the hill was not so easy.

Afterwards, the Troop tried their hand at snow shoeing on the frozen lake near Gerber.

Later on the Troop headed to the Luge track, where they go over the basics of the luge sled.

You steer with your feet but do not look up. You always need to look forward.

After getting the hang of the luge sled, the Troop heads to track and lines up to do the luge run.

While at the track, there were a few races lined up to see who can get the best time going down the track. Troop 46 was determined to get the best times.

Troop 46 won 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd Place overall!

Mr Turner of Troop 46 won 3^rd Place overall in the adult races.

All of Troop 46 that participated in luging had a great time!

As the sun sets on the cabin, where the Troop stayed, everyone had a great time.
